Ob Tampons
o.b. is a brand of tampon invented in 1950 in Germany and made by Carl Hahn GmbH. Edgewell Personal Care now owns it. The product was called by Judith Esser-Mittag, a gynecologist who also invented it. The initials “o.b.” are an acronym for “ohne Binde” in German (“without napkin”).
USER’S GUIDE
Instructions for Non-Applicator Tampon Use
Step 1
- Hand-washing. They will be your key tools in this situation!
- Then examine your o.b. tampon. Is it completely impenetrable? Good. (If not, avoid using it. Obtain another.)
- Locate and pull the colorful tear strip. After that, it’s a snap to remove both ends of the wrapper.
- Next, locate the string at one end of the tampon. Take hold of the string and tighten it left to right and top to bottom. This widens the tampon’s base, forming a comfortable and protective pocket for your finger, which is excellent since your finger will take center stage in our next step: Tampon insertion.

Step 2
- Please insert your index finger into the small pocket now. Once again, this pocket will assist in keeping your finger clean and protected while inserting the tampon.
- Using your thumb and middle finger, firmly grasp the tampon.
- Next, stand with one leg up (or sit on the toilet with your foot on the toilet or bathtub).
Step 3
- Take a deep breath to calm yourself.
- Gently open the skin surrounding the vaginal opening with your free hand.
- Now, using the entire length of your index finger, slip the o.b. ® tampon into your vagina, aiming for your lower back.
- When the tampon is placed correctly, you will not feel it. If you do, insert it slightly deeper.
- Allow the string to swing freely outside your body.
- Wash your hands! That is all.
When removing your tampon (remember to change it at least every 8 hours), here are a few additional tips.
- Begin by washing your hands.
- After that, take a big breath to unwind.
- Pull the thread gently but firmly, and voilà! It is now available.
- toss it in the trash, clean your hands, and give yourself a high five.
